TGIF Lovelies! Today I am taking some time to round out the week of blogging posts to talk all about that bounce rate! Now, you've heard the term before but do you actually know what it is or what it means? Well darlings, that's why I am here!

Some of you may already know all about that bounce rate and what to do to keep it low (as well as why you need to keep it low) so this post is more for newer kids on the blogging block. Ready, set, go!
A bounce rate is defined as how long a visitor stays on your site. If someone pops in via Twitter, for example, and they look at the first sentence in your post and then click over to Target.com, your bounce rate is going to go up. But if you can engage your audience and keep them around, you'll have a lower bounce rate which will increase all of your sites metrics as well.
So how do you get a lower bounce rate? Here's a few tips:
1 | Keep your content interesting -
Write engaging posts that make readers want to stay and read everything you have ever written all day and that keep them coming back. Stay fresh and upbeat, stay positive and relevant and don't forget to add links that readers can view related posts or related content.
2 | Design a clean site -
Nothing will get me off of a site faster than annoying pop-ups, tiny font or colors that clash so badly I need an eye exam after trying to read. Make sure you are staying true to your brand and that everything is clean and cohesive for desktop and mobile reading.
3 | Be easy to navigate -
If a read comes to your site and loves your post, they'll probably leave as soon as they're finished unless you provide them with what they should do next. Call-to-actions are great to add in to the footer of a post as well as including a related post section at the foot of the post. Don't overlook having an easy to understand navigation menu up top and plenty of good read links in your sidebar!
