Tutorial | Creating Social Media Images in Canva

Social Media banners help tie all of your sites together. People sometimes even spend more time on your social sites than on your actual blog! And did you know that without social media promotion, your page views would decrease easily by more than half! Yes, you read that right! So when you are building the perfect social media posts to tie in with your blog, it is probably a good idea to re-evaluate what those various social platforms look like to your readers!

That's why today we will be discussing Canva and how to build the perfect banners to coordinate all your sites with your blog. After all, it's all about branding!

Now I know many of you prefer PicMonkey but I am simply not a fan. I really couldn't tell you why, I just prefer Canva. That said, let's move along shall we?

1 | Decide What Graphic to Create in Canva

The first thing you want to do once you get to Cava is decide what type of banner you wish to create. I'm starting here with Facebook.

Now what I do is use all my own images. If you do not have copies of your blog header and such you can just as easily go view your blog, right click your image and save it. *TIP* If you have hired a designer, always make sure that you are allowed to use their creations to create your own things!

2 | Upload Your Own Images | Graphics

Once you have chosen your social network, go ahead and browse Canva to see if you like any of their designs. Most are free but all paid images are only $1.00 so why not feel free to add whatever you wish. If there is nothing you like or you just want to get straight into the branding, go ahead and hit the upload button.

Then click to add it to your design.

From here we will be positioning the image how we want it. If you notice, Canva includes the exact dimensions and layout for each platform you will be making banners for. This makes things super easy when needing to have everything exact and it';s a one stop shop so you won't have to use another image editor to resize or adjust. 

3 | Save and Finish!

Once you have everything where you want it, simply hit the DOWNLOAD or LINK button and save the image.

It will save to wherever you have your default saved images go. 

Once you have it all saved to your computer, feel free to head over to your social media site and upload it. The beautiful thing is that it is already ready. No need to adjust a thing. Save it and you're done!

A quick and simple method to creating beautiful banners that coordinate with your blogs brand and a DIY that can save you money if you don't have a creative bone in your body! *NOTE* I use Canva to create all my social media add-on options so what you are doing is exactly what the pros (ME!) do! You go!
